No. You can request a private consult without a Medicare card. The pathology collection centre can explain any test fees before your sample is taken.
Yes. Many STIs do not cause obvious symptoms. Tell the doctor what you would like to check and anything that may affect the request; they will assess which tests are clinically appropriate.
Timing depends on the tests and the lab. Many routine results are available within a few business days, and you will be notified when they are ready.
The reviewing doctor will explain the result and the next step. Depending on the result, that may include treatment, another test, partner notification advice, or an in-person follow-up.
Yes. Your partner can submit their own private request so a doctor can assess which tests are appropriate for them.
