What you get
A pathology referral, written by an Australian doctor.
A pathology referral, written by an AHPRA-registered Australian doctor and accepted at every lab in Australia.
The doctor decides which tests to include based on what you tell them. They'll talk you through it on the call if anything needs clarifying.
If you also need a script or a follow-up, the doctor can sort that on the same consult.
Common checks
The doctor will assess what fits your situation.
Pricing
$49.90
For the consult and referral, if approved.
One price
Same for everyone. The consult is private.
No referral, no charge
If the doctor decides a referral isn't right for you, you're not billed for the consult.
Lab fees are separate
Many blood tests are bulk billed with Medicare at the lab. Your lab can confirm before you go in.
Who this is for
Blood tests without booking a GP a week out.
People use this when they want a blood test without sitting in a waiting room to ask for one.
- You're due for a routine check and want to stay on top of it.
- Your GP usually orders the same tests every year and you'd rather not take the morning off.
- You've been feeling off — tired, run down, foggy — and want to rule a few things out.
- You're tracking something specific: iron, thyroid, cholesterol, hormones, vitamin levels.
- Your specialist or allied health provider has asked for a recent blood test.
- You want to know what your numbers are doing before your next appointment.
Whatever the reason, the doctor will treat it as routine. Because it is.

FAQs
The questions people ask before booking.
How fast will I get my results?+
It depends on the lab and the type of test. Most routine blood tests come back within a week of being collected — some are quicker, a few are slower. Your pathology lab can give you a clearer timeframe when you drop off your sample.
How will I get my results?+
Results are returned by the lab, not by us. Our result process page explains how it works, including what to do if you would like a doctor to talk you through them. Here's how the result process works →
How much does it cost?+
$49.90 for the consult and the referral, if approved. The doctor may also issue a script or recommend a follow-up on the same call. Pathology lab fees are separate and set by the lab; many blood tests are bulk billed with Medicare at the lab.
Is this legitimate?+
Yes. Every consult is with an AHPRA-registered Australian doctor, allowed to practise nationwide. The pathology referral is a standard clinical document and every Australian lab will accept it.
Can I choose which tests to include?+
You can tell the doctor what you're after — a routine check, a specific marker, or what your specialist has asked for. The doctor decides what's clinically appropriate to include on the referral and will explain anything they're adding or leaving off.
What if I'm not sure what to test for?+
Tell the doctor on the call what's going on. They'll help work out what makes sense to check, and whether anything else — a script, a follow-up, a specialist referral — would help.
Do I need a Medicare card?+
No. The $49.90 consult is private and costs the same either way. If you have a Medicare card, you may still be bulk billed for the tests at the pathology lab.
Is this private?+
Yes. The consult is private, your data stays in Australia, and you don't have to explain anything at a front desk. Like any doctor's consult, it's part of your medical record — that's how the referral gets recognised at the lab.
About online blood tests in Australia
The same blood-test process, with the referral handled online.
Online pathology tests work the same way as the ones your GP orders — the only difference is how you get the referral. Instead of booking an appointment and waiting, you fill in a short form, an AHPRA-registered Australian doctor reviews it, and if it's clinically appropriate they issue your pathology referral online.
From there, the process is identical to any other blood test. You take the referral to a pathology lab — any one, anywhere in Australia — the lab collects your sample, and the results go back through the normal clinical channels.
A pathology referral online is useful when you already know roughly what you want checked, when your usual GP is booked out, or when you'd rather not take time off to ask for something routine. The doctor still decides what's appropriate to include, and they'll call if they need more from you before issuing the referral.
